Alberta Martyn October 13, 1937 - December 23, 2022

Alberta Marie Martyn, age 85, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022 in her home in Sparta, Missouri. She was born October 13, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Melvin and Hazel (Palmer) Butts. Alberta was the oldest of five siblings; Darrel Butts, who preceded her in death in 2012, Judy M. Legg of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sandra K. Sendtko of Chino Valley, Arizona and Randy R. Palmer of Columbia, Missouri. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member. She attended Lincoln Northeast High School. She married and had two sons, Dennis Lynn Paswaters, who preceded her in death November 2021 and survived by Jerry Lee Paswaters of Springfield, Missouri.

Among her jobs in Lincoln were at Square D, Sears and some waitress work. Later she moved to Springfield, Missouri and worked at Sears and 3M. In 1971 she married James “Rod” Martyn, who survives her. They worked throughout the United States, building smokestacks for power plants. Alberta worked as a timekeeper for the company on many of those jobs.

Alberta was grandmother to five, great-grandmother to ten and has one great-great grandchild. Her family was her greatest joy. She was also stepmother to  Rodney Allen, Melanie, and April. Her hobbies included music, crocheting and embroidery. She made friends easily and will be greatly missed.
