Sharon Kay Maggard, age 78 of Sparta, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Cox South Hospital. She was born April 10, 1942 the daughter of Ruben Arthur and Edna (Stevens) Chronister. On December 10, 1959 she was united in marriage to Glen Maggard in Kansas City, Missouri.
Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grand-mother and friend. She was a lifelong resident of Christian County and enjoyed doing genealogy and family tree ancestry research. Sharon was multi-talented and enjoyed sewing, quilting, photography and was well-know for her delicious mashed potatoes. Sharon had a lifelong love of reading, recently Glen built her a small library for her collection of books. Traveling was also a favorite for Sharon and with her outgoing personality she never met a stranger. Sharon’s life will be forever treasured along with the many wonderful memories she created for her family and many friends and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years Glen Maggard; two sons Alan Maggard and wife Cathy, Bruce Maggard and wife Cindy, two daughters Marla Morgan and husband Scott, Mila Kirkland and husband Jim; ten grandchildren Brent, Melanie, and Brandon Maggard, Sandy Essick, Amanda Everett, Kylea, Zach, and Audrey Morgan, Corey and Mason Kirkland; fourteen great-grandchildren and an expected great grand-baby on the way; a sister Sandra Maggard and husband Ervin; two brothers Bob Chronister and partner Sharon Strong and Bud Chronister. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister and a great-grandson John Paul.
Due to COVID, for those not wanting to attend visitation, you are welcome to stop by for viewing from 11:00A.M. to 1:00P.M. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2020 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Troy Hull officiating. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Effective October 21, 2020 through December 31, 2020 the City of Ozark, Missouri issued a mask ordinance. A requirement to wear face coverings when in public, for the purpose of preventing or limiting the spread of COVID-19. Masks are also required at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. I loved that lady ever since I met her. She made me a beautiful Quilt with all my families name on it. I will forever keep it. God be with the family and friends because we will miss her forever. She loved her children and her husband Glen. RIP MY DEAR FRIEND.
