George Allen Morrison, age 92 of Highlonesome community, Oldfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully after a short illness, Monday, August 14, 2023, in Cox Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 2, 1931, to Bill and Matle (Nelson) Morrison. On December 24, 1953, George was united in marriage to Janie Loomis, in Harrison, Arkansas, and this union was blessed with two children, Rhonda Sue and Bo. Janie Morrison preceded George in death on May 16, 2015.

George was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Highlonesome. George began his career, April 2, 1958 to April 2, 1994, and was a dedicated employee for City Utilities Gas Department, Springfield, Missouri. His sense of humor and ability to tell a good story always kept everyone entertained. After George moved back to the farm, he stayed busy with his cattle, and loved to drive his tractors as well as he stayed busy on the dozers from daylight until dark, into his 80’s.

In addition to his wife Janie, George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dillon, Max, and Paul Morrison, sisters Ortha Lawrence, and Jessie Luetta Harvill Willis.

George is survived by his daughter Rhonda Stokes; son Bo Morrison and wife Rachel; sisters Alyce M. Hughes and Huba (Hib) A. Rozell; sisters-in-law Jean Loomis and Doris Morrison; four grandchildren Courtney, Leslie and (Dale), Jayme and (Shane), Caleb and (Morgan); nine great-grandchildren Dylan, Kyle, Layne, Ayden, Wyatt, Creek, Emily, Carson and Evie; two great-great-grandchildren Arlo and Lucille; a longtime friend Farrell Wade and wife Pat and Tim Fink; several nieces, nephews and other caring relatives.

Funeral services will be 1:00P.M. Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. The visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday Evening, August 18, 2023, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
