James R. “Rod” Martyn October 20, 1937 - August 15, 2023

James Rodney Martyn, age 85 of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, In Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. Rod as he was fondly known to his family and friends, was born October 20, 1937, in West Virginia, the son of Monroe and Madilyn (Williams) Martyn. On October 23, 1976, Rod was united in marriage to Alberta M. Butts (Paswaters) who preceded him in death on December 23, 2022.

Rod was a talented and skilled Superintendent Carpenter who worked throughout the United States building smokestacks for huge power plants, for over 46 years. He was a good family man who enjoyed his family and various gatherings and events. Rod will be dearly missed but his loving memory will live on the hearts of his wonderful family.

Rod is survived by his children Rodney Martyn and wife Michelle, Melanie Wright and husband Kenny, and April Martyn all of West Virginia; Rod was also step-father to Jerry Lee Paswaters and Dennis Paswaters who preceded him in death November 2021. Rod is survived by five grandchildren Elizabeth Scott, Christopher Gibson, Brandon Martyn, Kenny Wright, Ashley Blake and husband Steve; eight great-grandchildren, other caring relatives and friends.
