Venita Pearl Jernigan, age 81 of Sparta, Missouri passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Ozark Nursing and Care, Ozark. She was born December 10, 1934 the only child of Robert Lynn and Bessie Lucile (Bradley) Jernigan. Venita was a longtime resident of Christian County and graduated from Sparta High School in 1953. After graduation, her career spanned several years with the Division of Family Services. She was a dedicated employee with Greene County DFS for 22 years and Christian County DFS for 19 years. Venita was a faithful member of Sparta Assembly of God and enjoyed being church pianist for 50 years. Through the years, several charities and organizations benefited from her generous donations and caring concerns. Venita is survived by several caring neighbors, longtime friends and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside funeral services for Venita will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Sparta Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Mead officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her parents. Visitation will be 10:00 to 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
