Charlene Mae Ausmus, age 77 of Sparta, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Glendale Garden’s Nursing & Rehab, Springfield, Missouri. She was born January 24, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William Jasper and Marvilla Viola (Curtner) Smart. On September 19, 1956 she was united in marriage to Charles Lee Ausmus. Charlene and Charles were married 58 years. Charlene was a longtime resident of Christian County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Chadwick. She was a loving mother and homemaker and it was a priority in her life to make sure her children were saved. Charlene was a wonderful cook and loved to feed her family. She was a hard worker and devoted her life to those she loved. In her later years, Charlene earned her G.E.D. diploma by herself. She also hosted 3 foster children in her home after her children were grown. Charlene is survived by her children Dennis Cox and wife Diane, Rick Ausmus and wife Karen, Hugh Milburn Ausmus, 12 grandchildren, and other caring relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, January 29, 2016 in Barnes Family Funeral Home Ozark, with Pastor Lloyd Hart officiating.
