Brenda Sue Smith, age 51, Bruner, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. She was born on November 10, 1961 in Greeley, Colorado the daughter of Robert and Betty (Dickson) Phillips. Brenda is survived by her son, Shane Roberts, of the home. She is also survived by three sisters, Christine Flood and husband Kenny, Billings, Missouri, Linda Mitchell and husband Bill, Chadwick, Missouri, and Carol Coffer and husband Jim, Rogersville, Missouri; two brothers, David Phillips and wife Susan, Bruner, Missouri and Danny Phillips and wife Dawn, Raymore, Missouri; thirteen nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews and other caring relatives. She was lovingly cared for by many wonderful friends including Petra McCoy and Theresa Young. She was preceded in death by her parents. Brenda was employed at Casey’s in Sparta for several years. She loved her family and always checked on their welfare. She was an avid cat lover and never turned a stray away. Brenda will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services for Brenda will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 18, 2013 in Hope Church of Sparta, with Pastor Michael Hamilton, Ph.D. officiating. Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. The family suggests donations be made to the Hope Church of Sparta, Children’s Miracle Network or Humane Society.
