Brian Gerard Morris, 63, of Clever, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024. He was born November 7, 1960, in Rockville Centre, New York, the son of Edward and Cecilia (Dolan) Morris. Brian graduated from East Meadow High School. After graduation Brian enlisted in the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant until his retirement in 1987. After retirement from the Army Brian joined the Carpenter’s Union in Springfield, Missouri where he worked for many years as a Journeyman Carpenter and Millwright. Of the many career accomplishments Brian received throughout his life he was most proud of being a Recruiter, Drill Sergeant, Tactical Satellite/Microwave Systems Operator, Journeyman Carpenter, and Millwright.
On September 4, 1982 Brian was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janice “Lea” Inman while both were serving in the military overseas. This union was blessed with four children. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to Irish music, sharing stories, grilling and passing on his Irish heritage. Most who knew Brian, knew he stood up for what he believed in, loved pulling pranks and had a sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife Janice Morris of Clever; son Patrick Morris and wife Debra Morris of Marshfield; two daughters Caitlin (Morris) McDaniel and husband Gary McDaniel of Branson and Cecilia (Morris) McWhirt and husband Austin of Clyde, North Carolina; two brothers Anthony Morris and wife Diane of New York and Sean Morris of Bay Shore, New York; mother-in-law Joyce Inman of Fordland; two brothers-in-law Jerry Inman and wife Jeri of Seymour and Jay Inman and wife Mashala; sister-in-law Jeanette Alcorn and husband Butch and many loving family members.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Cecilia Morris; sisters Bernadette Morris and Ann Maxwell; brothers Edward Morris and Kevin Morris; daughter Bridget Morris, and an infant child.
Funeral Mass will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark. The visitation will be one hour prior to funeral mass. Burial with full military honors at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery will be held 9:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024. The procession to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery will be led by Warriors Watch Riders. Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home. October 16, 2024 at 5:23 pmA Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of retired US Army Sergeant Brian Morris was celebrated at midnight 18 October 2024 (0900 Ozark MO time). Attendees included US Marines operationally attached to His Majesty’s Australian Ship Canberra. Celebrant was Brian’s cousin, Father Paul Stuart, RAN, STL, Senior Chaplain (O-6) of the Royal Australian Navy. Rest in Peace dear cousin and it was a privilege and honour to meet you in person many years ago in Ozark together with Lea, Patrick, Bridget, Caitlin and Cecelia. Love and prayers from cousin Paul.
