Dema M. Johns, age 83 of Sparta, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. She was born November 13, 1933 the daughter of Rex and Muriel (Campbell) Moses. Dema was a longtime Christian County resident and homemaker. During most of her life, Dema was a dedicated employee for various businesses. She began her working career with Sparta Dry Goods from 1951 to 1967 and Lily Tulip for a little over 2 years. In 1969, Dema moved to California, Missouri and worked for Stride Rite for 23 years. Later, Dema returned to Sparta and was employed as a member of the cafeteria and support staff with Ozark Schools for 22 years and retired May 2016. Dema’s life will always be celebrated along with her accomplishments and her wonderful memories will forever be treasured by her family. Dema is survived by two daughters Pamela Beyers and husband Steve of Sparta and Deanna Butts and husband Randy of California, MO; five grandchildren Kevin Weter, Stephenie Beyers, Tara Rackers, Lissa Roller and Jeremy Butts; nine great-grandchildren, other caring relatives and many good friends. In addition to her family, Dema will also be missed by her good friend and travel chauffeur, Erva Lou Johnson. Dema was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris Irene Moses and three grandchildren Jonathan and Travis Butts and Ashley Beyers. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri with Chuck Eakins officiating. Burial will follow and Dema will be laid to rest in Sparta Cemetery.
