Dr. Earl C. Hansen, age 88 of Billings, Missouri, passed away Sunday evening, July 14, 2013 in Christian Health Care of Republic. He was born in Silvis, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Ella Hansen. Earl was joined in marriage to Bonny Keay on November 28, 1944. Earl proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, Navy, and Air Force. After serving military time, he was employed at Rock Island Lines of Illinois for 17 years and held the title of Engineer at the end of his employment. In 1972, he graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College settling in Millwood, Kentucky where he remained for 33 years and retired at age 80. Throughout his practice a very special nurse, Sharon Booth, worked alongside him. Dr. Hansen loved the people of Kentucky and especially bonded with the Katy Brady family. Upon retirement, he moved to Billings and enjoyed family gatherings, telling jokes, singing and playing the harmonica. He also enjoyed wood carvings, painting and making jewelry. He is survived by his wife Bonny of 69 years, daughters Pam Cunningham and husband Don of Springfield, and Patty Grooms and husband John of Ottumwa, Iowa; grandchildren Jana Cunningham, David Cunningham and Patricia Ross, Tricia and husband Dwaine Worrall, David and wife, Lori Grooms, Jeff and wife Leslie Grooms, Cory and wife Missy Grooms, Julie Grooms and 16 great grandchildren. Dr. Hansen has now gone to be with his Lord and Savior. He often talked of the sky, the clouds and God’s wonderful paintings. He enjoyed the beautiful sunsets at his home. He will be missed but is in Heaven and will be reunited with his family someday. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield with Chaplain Paul Stanek officiating.
