Edward “Skip” Uhler March 26, 1943 - July 28, 2018

Edward A. “Skip” Uhler, age 75 of Springfield, Missouri passed away with loving family by his side on Saturday afternoon, July 28, 2018.  Skip was born on March 26, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to his parents, Jack and Pat Uhler.  Skip was a 3rd generation Eagle Scout. In 1961, Skip graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri, and shortly after graduation he joined the United States Navy.  After serving four years, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he met his wife, Linda Lynch.  Skip and Linda were married November 25, 1967, and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2017.  Skip worked as a sales representative for shipping lines and retired at age 59.  He loved snow skiing and made annual trips to Colorado.  Over the years, Skip and Linda lived in California, Connecticut, Georgia, and finally moved to Springfield, MO in 2016 to be close to family.  They loved traveling and entertaining; were dedicated sports fans, rooting for K.C. Chiefs, Royals, and Missouri Tigers; and were especially devoted to their Shih Tzus.  After Linda’s passing, he continued to hone his chef skills and gathered family and friends at his home for meals.  Skip will be forever loved and remembered by those blessed to be part of his life. Skip is survived by his sister Lynn Uhler; two sister-in-laws Sandy Evans and husband Steve, Susan Spruill and husband John; nieces and nephews Nancy Evans Bifulco, Todd Evans, Jonathan Spruill, Jack Spruill and wife Julie, Liz Gargis and husband Austen; great nieces and nephews Mary Bifulco, Hannah Evans, Pfifer, Lincoln and Henley Spruill, Hunter and Holden Gargis. In addition to his wife, Skip was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Chris Evans.  Arrangements under the care of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Services and interment at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with military honors to be announced at a later date. The family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
