Gerald Lowery August 24, 1943 - September 5, 2023

Date of Funeral

September 10, 2023

Gerald Lowery, age 80 of Rogersville, Missouri passed away Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023 at Sunterra Springs in Springfield, Missouri after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 24, 1943, just minutes after his twin sister in Vancouver, Washington to his parents, WC and Lopez (Payne) Lowery. On September 27, 1963, Gerald was united in marriage to Jennifer Sue Geren, and they were preparing to celebrate their upcoming anniversary for 60 years of marriage.

Gerald was loyal, genuine, and compassionate in all aspects of his life. He was a dedicated employee of DFA for 46 years. He was a member of the Shrine for 50 years. He was an outstanding athlete in High School, a starter for the Willard Tigers basketball team and a first-rate sprinter in track, taking second place at State competition in the 100- and 200- yard dash. Above all, Gerald was always there for his family. Both in times of happiness and times of challenge, his humor, love, and support shined with warmth and brightness that lifted us, and at times, saved us. He was a good man to the very core of his big heart. As a husband, he was Jennifer’s everything and they were inseparable. As a father, he cheered on his daughter’s high school and college track career and supported his son in his pursuit of a career in Art and their lives beyond. As a grandfather, he traveled everywhere, watching hundreds of games to support his grandson’s baseball journey from age 5 to college graduation, his granddaughter’s softball career all through college, and his youngest granddaughter’s path to becoming the creative and caring person she has become, and her husband’s career as an MMA fighter. As a great-grandfather, he could not have been more proud of the accomplishments they have made already at such young ages.

His grandson always knew Grandpa was in the stands by hearing his enthusiastic “Woowoowoo!!” and the rest of us had our own ways knowing he was there for us.

Gerald loved arrowheads and Indian artifacts, going to antique stores with Jennifer, and collecting Civil War memorabilia, but most of all he loved the people in his life. He was the definition of a good man and he will be greatly missed, but his memory and impact will go onward, far into the future.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife Jennifer; sister Sharon Helton and husband Gail; son Todd Lowery; daughter Tonia Robbins and husband Jeff; grandson Tino Robbins and wife Bailey; granddaughter Kylie Robbins and wife Haley; granddaughter Kelsey Clem and husband Austin; great-grandsons Jacobie and Berringer Robbins.
