Kathleen “Kay” Ellen Applegate, age 81 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. Kay as she was fondly known by her friends and family, was born July 2, 1941 the daughter of Spencer and Arloa (Payne) Campbell.
On December 28, 1996 Kay was united in marriage to Kenneth Applegate, together they shared 25 years together until Kenny passed away December 1, 2020. Kay was known for her dedicated work ethic, working for Fasco Manufacturing many years, until she retired. Kay was a long-time resident of the Ozark and Chadwick area where she raised her family.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Kenny, son Michael Phillips who passed away at the age of 16, her parents, her sister Arlene Allan and brother Charles Campbell. She is lovingly survived by her children Terry Campbell, Jody Phillips and Charles Phillips; her sister Joann Payne; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral and begin at 1:00. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Ozark, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
