Kolten Dean Strickland, age 15 of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born August 23, 2006, in Springfield, Missouri the son of Brian and Katherine (Barns) Strickland.
Kolten was a student at Truth Academy of Springfield and was presently a ninth grader. He attended two days a week and enjoyed the perfect balance between obtaining a successful education and achieving the “Hybrid Homeschooling” experience. During the remaining days of the week, Kolten worked on the farm, ran the tractor and practiced his bull riding. Almost every Friday was a special day of sharing when Kolten spent time bowling with his grandparents and his brother, Hunter. He also devoted time and volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol showing his interest in aviation and possibly someday, he looked forward to becoming a pilot. Kolten was smart, sweet, handsome and pushed the boundaries but he was also stubborn enough with the determination to achieve his goals. Kolten will be sadly missed but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents Brian and Kate Strickland, Kolten is also survived by his older brother, Hunter Strickland; paternal grandparents Ron Strickland and Mary Kendall; maternal grandparents Robert and Elizabeth Barns; step-grandmother Gail Yates; other caring relatives and several friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 24, 2022, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri, with Fr. Chandler Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service and begin at 1:00 P.M. until service time. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com

May 20, 2023 at 6:49 pmI am so sorry Brian, and Kate. The one one and only time i saw Kolton was after his mother was awake and me and jason came to visit. Kolton was a baby. I pray particularly hard for hunter. And of course, Brian, and Kate, i pray for both of you as well. There isnt much to say about this kind of thing. But know that Kolton still loves you, and you still love him. And that will never change. I pray you are well and i hope hunter is okay. If ANY of you need to reach out you can contact me. – Richard 913-240-9137
