Lavern Carner October 3, 1926 - March 10, 2023

Date of Funeral

March 14, 2023

The Lord’s good and faithful servant, Lavern Carner, age 96 of Ozark, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2023, in Mercy Hospital. Born October 3, 1926, in Warm Springs, Arkansas, Lavern shared happiness and love with everyone she met. She also shared her life with her treasured sister, Greathen. Chances are, if you ran into Greathen, you ran into Lavern. So close were the Carner sisters, that they both left this earth at the age of 96. They were well known and loved for their generosity, “covered dishes,” hand-made needlework and miniature pillows in Doniphan, Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff and Ozark. Lavern especially enjoyed sharing time and worshipping with her family at Ozark Assembly of God. Her spirit was always lifted when receiving visits from friends. Especially when visited by Bryan, Bobbie, Chriss, and her prayer partner Lisa. The last eight months Lavern relished time spent with new friends at “The Gardens Independent Living” in Springfield. Finding joy in the simple things in life and the Lord’s many blessings, Lavern loved doting over her nephew’s photos of their children and grandchildren.

Although she will be dearly missed here on earth, Lavern will be welcomed with open arms as she enters the pearly gates of Heaven. Lavern is survived by her three nephews: Rick and wife Janet of Atlanta, Georgia, Randy and wife Ruth of Magnolia, Texas and Jeff of Ozark and his fiancé Lisa of Battlefield. Lavern was preceded in death by her sister Greathen and brother Bob; father Troy Carner and mother Minnie (Edwards).

Family only viewing for Lavern will be 12:30pm Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Public visitation 1:00 till 2:00. Graveside service will follow at 2:15 at Weaver Cemetery with Pastor Keith Surface officiating. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
