Lenia J. Whyel July 13, 1938 - March 13, 2023

On Monday, March 13, 2023, Lenia J. Whyel passed away at the age of eighty-four years. She was born in Morrisdale, Pennsylvania, July 13, 1938. On December 19, 1964, she married Clyde L. Whyel, and they moved to Ohio where they started a family.

Mrs. Whyel was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, parents Leroy Williams and Virginia (Pelton) Williams, siblings Richard, Floyd, Robert, Leroy, Theodore, Edna, Sandi, and Andrew. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Bud Jones of Nixa, Missouri, daughter and son-in-law Jeanine and Chuck Gunter of Dixon, California, and son Tom Whyel of Ozark, Missouri. Lenia has seven grandchildren Ashley Cantrell, Karissa Prilliman, Cara Dominguez, Paige Jones, Breanna Nusbaum, Jordan Whyel, and Callie Gunter; thirteen great-grandchildren; her brother Douglas Deakin of Inman, South Carolina.

Everyone who knew her called her Joan, but to those who know her best she is Joanie. Joan was a troubadour and led songs during church service in the early 60’s with an evangelist. She loved music and continued to be in the church choir for many years. Joanie was a puzzler fancying jigsaws and was a reader of fictional Amish books. She enjoyed talking and visiting with people wherever she went; her smile was beautiful. Joanie loved her family.
