Leroy Albert Smith, age 80 of Ozark, Missouri passed away early Tuesday morning, March 22, 2016 in Springfield Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center. He was born July 27, 1935 in Bunker, Missouri the son of Charley E. and Opal V. (Rattiff) Smith. On November 13, 1965 he was united in marriage to Charlotte A. (Phillips) Smith. Leroy was a dedicated employee of Railway Express Agency and retired after many years of employment. For several years, he was also owner operator of his own trucking company. Leroy was born with the perfect personality to be a “people” person and enjoyed many years as a Wal-Mart door greeter. He was a favorite among his co-workers and used his gifted abilities to help others. Leroy also attended Selmore Baptist Church and loved the fellowship of believers. Leroy is survived by his caring wife Charlotte; he was the dear father of Stephen Lee and wife Linnea, David Wade and wife Jeannette, Sharon Renee Smith, Elizabeth Lea Mattera and husband Mark, William Raymond Layne and wife Karen, Cindy Ann Rinehart and husband Nerl. Leroy was also the beloved brother of Larry Thomas Smith and wife Mary, Leon Charles Smith and wife Sandy and longtime friend of Carl and Mert Timpe and Chris Van Winkle. Leroy dearly loved his fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and will be missed by his many good friends. Funeral services will be 11:00A.M. Monday, March 28, 2016 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Josh Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
