Linda L. Uhler December 8, 1944 - February 19, 2017

Barnes Family Funerals - Lina L. Uhler

Linda Lou (Lynch) Uhler, age 72 of Springfield, MO passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born December 8, 1944 in Kansas City and was raised in Gallatin, MO where she graduated from High School in 1962.

Linda attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she met husband Edward (Skip), and both cheered for the Mizzou Tigers. Together, they moved to Kansas City, where she found her lifelong passion at the American Cancer Society. Her 34 years with the Society took her from Midwest Unit Exec to executive positions within the divisions on both coasts. As a colleague stated, “She worked in the trenches helping patients and volunteers and could just as easily throw on a cocktail dress and lipstick and host one of the biggest galas in the United States.”

She retired as Senior Vice President of Field Operations in the National Home Office in Atlanta, GA where she and Skip lived for over 16 years with their loving Shih Tzus. Retirement did not slow Linda down, as she spent her days fulfilling her passions like entertaining, traveling around the globe, playing Mah Jong, and being an advocate for human rights, climate change, and many other causes.

Wherever Linda lived she stayed very closely connected with family and friends, which she held dear. She never missed an occasion for a celebration, kept up with their latest news, and always remembered special life events. Linda had the remarkable ability to develop and maintain close, lasting relationships with people who, in turn, loved and adored her.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dorothy Lynch, and her nephew, Chris Evans. She is survived by her husband of more than 49 years, Skip, and their furry kids Andy, Tori, and Rocky; sisters Sandy Evans (Steve) and Susan Spruill (John), sister-in-law Lynn Uhler; nieces and nephews Nancy Evans Bifulco, Todd Evans, Jack Spruill (Julie), Liz Spruill (Austen), Jonathan Spruill, and great nieces and nephews Mary Bifulco, Hannah Evans, Pfifer, Lincoln, and Henley Spruill, and Hunter Gargis.

Memorial funeral services for Linda will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, MO. Visitation will be 12:00 to service time. Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, to honor her memory, donations are requested to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or Democratic National Committee.

I am stunned and sad beyond belief to learn of our Linda’s passing. Pictures keep flashing through my mind — a bunch of us giggly girls at bunking parties, chowing down on tacos, afternoons watching American Bandstand — learning the latest dance steps from our Philadelphia friends, and screaming at the mention of our latest “heart throb hero.”
So many memories…such happy memories. Above all, the #1 picture in my mind is Linda age 15 or 16 in her little red & black cheerleading outfit, bouncing through the GHS halls, bouncing more at the pep assemblies in the gym, and then really “going to town” on the sidelines at the football field. Smiling, bubbly, upbeat, and always ready to share the fun.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Linda is irreplaceable, but memories are there to help us hold her extra close. I loved her, too, and I love all of you. Markay

Skip how can this be that we both have lost our spouses within three days of each other. My heart aches for both of us. You and Linda welcomed me into your home when I was moving to Kansas and helped me search for apartments. We managed to stay in touch through the years no matter where the American Cancer Society took us. Even when you lived in Conn and Atlanta you welcomed us to visit and stay in your homes so many times. Both of you were the most wonderful hosts along with your Fur Babies. Linda has left us with so many life long memories that in time I hope will sustain you through these difficult times. Please let us honor her by staying in touch.
    Friends Forever,
    Karen
