Mitchell Lewis Cravens May 5, 1983 - September 16, 2015

Barnes Family Funerals - Mitchell Lewis Cravens

Mitchell Lewis Cravens was born May 5, 1983 in Springfield, MO to Linda Cravens and Gary Cravens. Mitch lived his early life in Mansfield, MO before moving to Springfield where he went to both Catholic and public schools. He graduated from Glendale High School in 2001 and also attended Ozark Technical Community College. Mitch was an avid and championship pool player both locally and across the Midwest. He is survived by his son Tyler Gene Cravens, his father Gary Cravens and wife Sandy; his mother Linda Cravens; his siblings Stacey Bruce, Steven Bruce, Justin and wife Nichole Cravens, Jeremy and wife Shekinah Cravens, Jason and wife Kerry Cravens, Jennifer and husband Tim Wilson-Humphries, Kim and husband Jeff Johnson, Chellie and husband Ryan Moore, Janelle Burton, grandmother Helen Cravens, as well as a large extended family. His happiest moments were spent with son Tyler and family. Tyler was the light of his life. Mitch loved playing ball with him in the park, visiting the zoo, discount steak night at Texas Roadhouse, Toys R Us and Chuck E. Cheese. He also loved building Lego sets with Tyler. Of course, we cannot forget the long standing Cravens family love of Cardinals Baseball. His friends remember him for his lively spirit, sense of humor and his competitive nature. His big heart and willingness to use his talent and skills to mentor others will keep him alive in the memory of friends and family. However, he never quite perfected the art of losing gracefully…. I’m sure all can remember him storming out of a pool room or off a golf course on a bad day, only to return later with a smile on his face and ready to go again. Mitch was loved by many and will be forever missed. Memorial service for Mitch will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 20, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral, Ozark with Pastor Larry Scott officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial education fund has been established for Tyler Gene Cravens c/o Gary Cravens, 1916–A Winged Foot Dr. Nixa, MO 65714. Mitch, your smile could light up a room and I’ll continue on knowing all the memories we had as children together. I will hold them dearly in my heart forever. Your time here on earth was cut extremely way to short, but while you were here with all of us you made such a huge impact on anyone you met. I love you Cousin, you will ALWAYS be missed and loved but NEVER forgotten for your legacy will live on through your beautiful son.

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS! I HAD INTENDED TO ATTEND THE SERVICE, BUT DID NOT LOOK AT THE SUNDAY PAPER UNTIL AFTER EVENING CHURCH, SO DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE SERVICE UNTIL TOO LATE. I WORKED AT A/G HEADQUARTERS FOR ABOUT 37 YEARS, JUST RETIRING 5 YEARS AGO. SO I KNOW JEREMY AND HAD TALKED WITH HIM A FEW TIMES ABOUT MITCH. I MET MITCH ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND IMMEDIATELY LOVED HIM. HE WAS A TERRIFIC YOUNG MAN AND A WONDERFUL POOL PLAYER. I PRACTICED WITH HIM SOME AND HARDLY EVER BEAT HIM! THE LAST FEW TIMES I SAW MITCH, HE HAD CHANGED AND I HAD BEEN CONCERNED FOR HIM. BUT I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN I FIRST MET YEARS AGO! WE WERE ALL DEVASTATED BY HIS LOSS!
MAY GOD COMFORT YOU IN YOUR SORROW!

I’d like to offer my condolences in the loss of your loved one so I am writing to share a comforting thought with you

I didn’t know Mitchell but I too have lost loved ones in death and took comfort in the words of Psalm 34:18: “Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Also John 5:28, 29: ‘All those in the memorial tombs (the graves) will hear his voice and come out.’ What a wonderful hope for the future, that we can see our dead loved ones again!

I would be happy to send you a free Bible brochure that has brought me much comfort. Feel free to contact me at: concernedcomforter@gmail.com

    Sincerely,

    Terry D
