Barnes Family Funerals - Myrtle "Mert" Timpe

Myrtle (Mert) May Timpe (73) of Ozark, MO passed from this life into eternity surrounded by her family on June 11, 2016. She was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mert was born December 18, 1942 to James Leroy and Nellie Bobbitt in Oklahoma City, OK. She was raised on the family farm in Beaver, OK. In 1965, she relocated to Ozark, MO. Mert married Carl Timpe on May 24, 1980. Together, they blended their existing families into one. They enjoyed traveling the country to nearly every state, spending time with family and attending Selmore Baptist Church. Mert’s gift to this world was her servant’s heart, the ability to love unconditionally, and have immeasurable grace to all that she knew. To her, family meant love and acceptance and extended beyond the boundary of blood, relationships and marriages. Once you were family you are always family. Mert is survived by her husband of 36 years, Carl Timpe. Her children: Lana Hittle and husband Squeaky (Liberal, KS), Tim Cowan (Springfield, MO), Rod Cowan (Billings, MO), Arnie Schill (Vancouver, WA), Tina Smythe and husband Michael (Rogersville, MO), Chuck Timpe and wife Debra (Rocky Mount, VA), Mike Timpe and wife Kelly (Ava, MO), Kathy Holbrook and husband Scott (Clever, MO), 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, sister Jan Rader and husband Tony (Hammon, OK), sister Joy Velez and husband Javier (Booker, TX) and a multitude of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Lee Bobbitt, her parents James Leroy and Nellie Bobbitt, her son Rick Timpe, and her daughter May Beth Schill.Although, Mert enjoyed gardening and flowers, we ask in lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to St. Jude’s Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House to celebrate her love of children and families. Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4
