Nona May Hammon, age 68 of Ozark, passed away peacefully in her home, Tuesday, February 22, 2011, after a long illness with cancer and her loving family by her bedside. She was born September 15, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, the daughter of Walter and Emma ( Eichelberger ) Hamby. On December 2, 1961 she was united in marriage to Carl Hammon and the Lord blessed them with two children. Nona lived her life with a passion for caring and helping others, But, her true calling was being a devoted wife and loving mother who instilled her outstanding morals and values in her children and grandson. She enjoyed garage sales, collecting antiques, quilting, painting, gardening and was a member of The Red Hat Society. Nona’s loving heart and contagious personality allowed her the unique ability to be a genuine friend to many. She will sincerely be missed by her family and friends. Nona is survived by her husband Carl Hammon; her daughter, Carla Johnson and husband Vernon of Columbia, Mo. and her son, Michael Hammon of Joplin, Mo. Three brothers, Walter, Homer and Don Hamby; one grandson Levi Hammon and fiancé Sandy Renfrow, other caring relatives and several friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
