Stephen Scott Dickens was born July 13, 1976 in Springfield, Missouri and
departed this life, Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Cox Medical Center, Springfield. Missouri.
Scott was the son of Dean and Ann (Hibbard) Dickens of Nixa, Missouri.
Scott was 3 years old when he and his parents moved to the Ava community.
He was baptized in 1984 at the First Baptist Church in Ava by Reverend Nolan Carrier.
He graduated from Ava High School in the class of 1994. Growing up in Ava left
him, and his family, wonderful memories. His neighbors in Prairie Village
Subdivision, his church family, the Forest Service family, friends from school and
playing sports, and friends at the lake where he spent many days boating in the
Darrell and Darrell yacht, fishing and swimming.
Scott and Elisha Marie Patrick were united in marriage June 16, 2001 in Ava,
Missouri by Reverend Nolan Carrier. Their son Talon Eugene Dickens was born July
8, 2012. He was the light of their life and a joy to the whole family.
Scott was a dedicated husband, father and he was a hard worker. He had a dry
sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye with his quiet mischievous smile. Scott grew
up to be big in stature and one of his aunts described him as a gentle giant. If he
gave you a bear hug he could almost break you in half.
Scott enjoyed woodworking, building, video games, gambling, and most of all
spending time with family and friends. He always had a dog and he loved his fur
babies.
Surviving in addition to his wife, son and parents are his sister Jana (Michael)
Andrews; grandparents Walter and Betty Dickens; mother-in-law Karla Patrick;
father-in-law Greg (Doreen) Patrick; aunts Susan (Gary) Martin and Carol (Bud)
Powel; sister-in-law Crystal (Terry) Holt; a host of loving family and many very
close friends who were like a part of his family growing up in Ava.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents Glen “Pop” and Virginia (Bunch) Hibbard.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 7, 2022 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. ery. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. one hour prior to the funeral.
Scotts family would like to thank all our family, friends and co-workers for the
visits, phone calls and messages of love and support during his illness and passing.
Donations can be made to a charity of your choice or however you wish to honor
Scott and his family. Online condolences maybe shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com

February 2, 2022 at 4:03 pmScott will always be remembered as that 8th grade science student who was usually quiet and well mannered. But every once in a while, he would open up with that big grin and say the funniest things in class. Many times, it took a few seconds to recognize the humor – his sense of humor was so dry and so very refreshing. I enjoyed him in class and watching him grow up. Continued prayers for you all.
