Stephen Travis Eakins June 16, 1977 - February 2, 2024

Date of Funeral

February 6, 2024

Stephen “Travis” Eakins, age 46 of Bruner, Missouri departed this world on Friday, February 2, 2024. Travis was born June 16, 1977 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Stephen W. Eakins and Kay Ann Eakins. On June 15, 1996, Travis was united in marriage to Jennifer (Adams) Eakins. Travis loved hunting and fishing and his family. This love of the outdoors was passed down from his father and in turn, he passed the outdoorsmen tradition on to his children; teaching them to appreciate what nature could provide. Skilled in carpentry and mechanics, Travis had a brilliant mind which lent itself to the service of others. Two words that describe Travis would be generous and kind. He was always willing to give anything he could to help anyone, even give the shirt off his back. Whether that be a helping hand with a transmission or rebuilding a porch, he was at the ready- tool in hand. All children and especially babies adored Travis. He had a sweet calming nature that could calm the most colicky of babies. His love for his grandchildren was deep and unending. His grandson Henry quickly became Travis’ shadow; following him everywhere he went. His granddaughter Zoey delighted in “Pop-Pop’s” snuggles. He always did his very best to take care of others, loving them with all that he had. Stephen “Travis” Eakins is survived by the love of his life, Jennifer who shared 27 cherished years of marriage. Travis is also survived by his son Dalton James, daughter Tonya Jane, and son Stephen Alexander. In addition he left behind two beautiful and beloved grandchildren Henry Enzo Welch and Zoey LeaRay Eakins, his Mother Kay Eakins, Sister Penny Stoneman, Sister Carolyn Kays, and Sister Josie Iverson. Stephen “Travis” Eakins is preceded in death by his father Stephen W. Eakins, sister Tonya Louise Eakins and grandson Aiden Dale Welch.
