Tara Lynn Herd was born December 28, 1979 and passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015. Tara grew up in Chadwick, Missouri on a farm with parents Gloria and Johnny Herd and seven siblings. Tara loved the farm and adored animals. She was baptized at an early age at Chadwick Union Church and loved the Lord. Tara also became a mom at a young age, but never failed to do her best to make her children happy. She is survived by five children, Taylor Lynn age 16, Jordyn Dawn age 14, Isaac David age 11, Elijah John age 8 and Jaiden Jean Smith age 6. Tara enjoyed playing the mom role. She loved cooking, cleaning, going to the creek, watching her children swim and roasting hotdogs. As a teen, she spent hours driving backroads with her closest friend Amanda who was like a sister. She also drove for hours with her oldest daughters, Taylor and Jordyn talking about the good times and singing to country music. Tara enjoyed being out in the country and owning property to raise goats and horses. She had a big heart for animals and an even bigger heart for her family. Her kids loved to talk to their mom about the Bible and enjoyed teaching her about Jesus. While in the hospital, Tara continued to change the hearts and lives of many family members, friends and even strangers. God used Tara to witness to others and made her family proud of her for hanging on and fighting her illness. Tara was an amazing mother, sister, daughter and most of all a friend. During her illness, Tara always called her kids and made sure they were doing okay. She gave her all, even when she didn’t have much. Tara was blessed with a very funny personality and brought many happy memories into the lives of loved ones. In addition to her children, Tara is survived by her parents Gloria and Johnny Herd, seven siblings Jeff Herd and Caroline, Sherry Strong, Lisa and Micky Walker, Christy and Ben Lewis, Josh Herd and Angie, Jessi and Chase Rains, Jerica Herd and Michael; the father of her children Jason Smith; Papa Dale Smith and grandmother Lois Herd; a special friend Randy Powers; numerous other relatives and many caring friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark . Burial will follow in Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. until service time. December 4, 2015 at 4:07 pmDear Herd Family,
I’m so sorry to hear about Tara. She was a student of mine. She was always such a delight and smiling all the time. I wish I had known in time to attend her service. I just read the obituary in the paper. My heart is heavy and so sorry for your family and for her children. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you now and always.
