Vester Lavern Harris May 7, 1920 - November 24, 2013

Vester Lavern (Riley) Harris, age 93 of Ava, Missouri, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, November 24, 2013. For the past three years she was a resident of Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava. Prior to moving to Ava, Vester resided in Kansas City, Kansas most of her life. Vester was born May 7, 1920 in Bevier, MO to Elige and Lula Riley and was the oldest of 13 children. On May 16, 1936 she was united in marriage to John Elmer Harris and to this union three children were born.Vester was preceded in death by her husband, John Harris, one brother, Eddie and three sisters, Mildred, Cordie, Clara Louise and half- sister, Francis. She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren, Ronnie Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Larry Pitts, and Debra Harris.She is survived by her children, Bill and Dora Johnson, Chester Harris and Beverly all of Kansas City, Kansas and Leon and Ila Harris of Ava. She is also survived by sisters; Bertie, Lois, Beverly, Agnes, and brothers; Bob, Donald, Russell, and Earl. Additionally, Vester was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 37 great-great grandchildren.Visitation will be 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26 at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, MO. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday at Westside Church of Christ in Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow and Vester will be laid to rest beside her husband, John, in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark.
