Alan W. Kaufman, age 79 of Sparta, Missouri passed away early Sunday morning, March 6, 2022, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born March 20, 1942, at Mt. Grove, Missouri, the son Walter and Margaret (Gaulding) Kaufman. On September 14, 1963, Alan was united in marriage to Joyce Hesterlee and this marriage was blessed with two daughters, Melissa and Sherry.
Alan was a longtime Christian County resident and well-known for his talents with repairing vehicles. He was a self-employed businessman with experience in paint and body work that brought him much pleasure to serve others and provide vehicle maintenance. While living in the Sparta area, Alan’s career and ability to “fix or repair anything” spanned for over 45 years. In his spare time, Alan enjoyed going to the lake, fishing for bass in his Skeeter bass boat “White Smoke”, camping, hunting and riding his John Deere tractor and gator. He was a family man and loved to be near his family and grandchildren, while teaching them to do the required vehicle maintenance and to enjoy the wonderful outdoors. During March 17, 1960 through March 29, 1963, Alan proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. Alan will be sadly missed but his memory will live on forever in hearts of his loving family and friends.
Alan is survived by his wife Joyce; two daughters Melissa Pellham and husband Kirk, Sherry Urban and husband Steve; six grandchildren Tara Loveland and husband Jason, Jordan Stallcup and husband Chase, Blake Muilenburg, Lexi Pellham, Taylor Daugherty and husband Zach and Zach Pellham; two brothers Harold Kaufman and wife Jackie and Tom Kaufman; eight great-grandchildren, other caring relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Alan was also preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services with full military honors will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral and begin at 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. March 8, 2022 at 7:24 amAlan gave me the most important thing in my life almost 35 years ago, his
daughter Melissa’s hand in marriage. He was like a father to me from day
one teaching me basic mechanics , hunting , and the pleasure of a
jaw full of RED MAN while fishing on BULL SHOALS LAKE !
I will always remember his life lessons and the loud belly rolling laugh
he shared with the family while watching a comedy in his recliner .
I will miss him a lot . Well actually more than a lot
miss you so much
