Gary Robert Fintel, age 74 of Chadwick, Missouri passed away peacefully in his home, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 15, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Robert and Marie Fintel. Later, Gary moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent the majority of his childhood. He graduated form Carl Hayden High School and afterwards, he joined the United States Marines. Gary proudly served his country from 1966 to 1972 as an active duty soldier, a member of the reserves and spent two years on the front lines, during the Vietnam War.
On April 1, 1978, Gary was united in marriage to Connie (Starnes) Fintel. In 1988, Gary and his family moved to Chadwick where he enjoyed the past 34 years of his life watching his children and grandchildren grow up. His most favorite time was spent with his family and always doting on his grandchildren. Gary never knew a stranger and enjoyed having a conversation with everyone he met. He will be missed and held in high regards by many. Gary left a legacy that will never be forgotten.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Connie; four children Jennifer Flores of Spokane, Washington, Misty Stevens and husband Raymond of Garrison, Missouri, Amanda Long and husband Tanner of Palm Coast, Florida, and Michael Fintel and wife Jessica of Chadwick, Missouri; one brother Stephen Fintel of Ozark, Missouri; three sisters Mary Fintel of Phoenix, Arizona, Jill Donagan and husband Jerry of River Ridge, Louisiana, Sally Hopkins and husband Gregg of Phoenix, Arizona; and many grandchildren Hailey Stevens, Olina Maurer, Adrian Long, Jacob Stevens, Lilly Fintel, Trevor Long, Madison Layman, Mason Layman, William Fintel, Spencer Paskett, Ryan Baskin, Chase Stumbaugh, Tabitha Flores, Kayleen French, Katye Lujan, and Lukas Flores. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Juile Kaye Stumbaugh, two grandchildren Victoria Lujan and Chad Stumbaugh.
Graveside funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 14, 2022, in Chadwick Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 12 noon to 1:30 P.M. in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Flag line and cemetery escort will be provided by Warriors’ Watch Riders under the direction of Kent McGregor.
