Avis Medlock September 26, 1932 - May 9, 2013

Avis Medlock, age 80 of Sparta, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 in her home. She was born September 26, 1932 the daughter of Claud and Velma (Mitchell) Hobbs. On September 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Paul Medlock at Mtn. Home, AR. Avis was a long-time resident of Christian County where she enjoyed the rural life on her country farm. She spent endless hours working with the farm animals and her large herd of cattle. Avis devoted her life to her late husband Paul and enjoyed being a wonderful mother to her entire family. Avis faithfully attended Shady Grove Baptist Church where she was a member. In addition to her husband Avis was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Vernon A. Cole. Avis is survived by two daughters Paula Cole of Branson, Pamra Thurman and husband Ed of Sparta; four grandchildren Jeff Johns and wife Tracey, Tyler Johns and wife Cheryl, Monica Rogers and Neisha Rogers; a brother Jack Hobbs and wife Deloris of Ozark; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral services were 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Dale Roller officiating. Burial followed in Sparta Cemetery.
