Breta Holmes July 27, 2024

Breta Holmes, age 93 of Highlandville, Missouri, left her earthly home to enter her Heavenly home Thursday, January 25, 2024. Breta was born August 1, 1930, on her mother’s birthday. She was united in marriage to Oliver Wendall Holmes on March 27, 1948. Those who knew Breta would say she was as close to a Saint as you could get. Breta was an accomplished accordion player and played at her church as well as teaching others to play accordion. Breta always had a smile on her face and always had a positive outlook. She lived a devoted Christian life and was a great example to be followed.

Preceding Breta in death was her husband of 64 years Oliver Wendall Holmes, her parents Earl and Floss Anderson, a sister and a brother. Leaving to mourn her passing is her daughter Janie Holmes of Nixa, her son Ward Holmes and wife Debbie of Highlandville, a grandson Seth Wollard and wife Brandy of Springfield, two great-grandchildren Logan and Lindsay of Springfield, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In 2015 Breta moved from her Highlandville farm to Nixa Senior Housing and lived next door to her daughter where she made many friends. In 2022, Breta made the decision to move to Nixa Nursing and Rehab and again made more friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be at Barnes Family Funeral Home in Ozark, Missouri, Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at a later date.
