Charles Lee Ausmus, age 83 of Sparta, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 in his home. He was born November 15, 1931 in Ozark the son of Hugh Milburn and Elizabeth (Johnson) Ausmus. On September 19, 1956 he was united in marriage to Charlene Smart. Charles was a longtime resident of Christian County and a member of First Baptist Church of Chadwick. Charles was a retired foreman and a member of the Local Union #147. His work was his passion and he worked with the underground tunnel crew#3 in New York. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, coaching baseball and was a St. Louis Cardinals and K.C. Chiefs fan. Charles also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and loved his family. Charles is survived by his wife Charlene, children Dennis Cox and wife Diane, Rick Ausmus and wife Karen, Hugh Milburn Ausmus, Chuck Ausmus and a daughter Eve; 12 grandchildren, a sister Beatrice and other caring relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m.Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home Ozark, with Pastor Lloyd Hart officiating.
