Oliver Harold Newberry, age 75 of Sparta, Missouri, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 31, 2014 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born November 10, 1939 in Oakwood, Missouri the son of Tom and Ida (Gullet) Newberry. Harold was a longtime employee and retired from the General Electric Corporation. After retirement, he enjoyed farming, raising chickens and fishing. Harold was also an animal lover and was especially fond of his mule Gus.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Earnest, Virgil, Steve, and Robert Newberry, one sister Lillian Coker, one niece Connie and one nephew Randy. Harold is survived by his brother Leon and wife Linda Newberry; Three nephews Ronnie Jerry and Greg Newberry; one niece Lucy Springer and several other caring relatives. Funeral services for Harold will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Harold showed his love for his animals by purchasing food for them every week. We will miss seeing Harold. Our thought and prayers are with Jerry and the other members of the family.
