Charles Dennis Backfisch August 20, 1947 - January 18, 2011

Dennis Backfisch,63, of Ozark, MO. passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. Dennis was born August 20, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO., the son of Charles and Jeannette (Boyer) Backfisch. As a young man, Dennis lived in Dexter, MO. and worked at the Missouri Department of Transportation. He was active in the Stoddard County Civil Defense and was an officer of the Dexter Jaycees. Dennis was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Dexter. On September 21, 1985 Dennis married the love of his life, Mary Jo Reed- Boyles and gained two daughters, Kristi Allstun and Tammy Boyles, to complete his family. Dennis moved his family to Ozark, MO. in 1993. There he was an active member of the Elks Lodge and he finished his 37 year career with MODOT. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Mary Jo, his daughters Kristi and Tammy, his four grandchildren Ashley, James, William, and Madison, a sister Debbie, and countless friends and relatives. Though Dennis left us too soon, he lived a full and wonderful life. Remember Dennis with a smile and toast him often. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2011 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will also be held in Dexter, MO., 6 to 8 P.M. in Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, in Armstead Dowdy Cemetery. The family has requested donations to Least of These or Freedoms Rest.
