Barnes Family Funerals - David Jacklin

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’” John 11:25-26 (NIV)

David Jacklin, age 66 of Ozark, Missouri, passed from life to eternal life on Wednesday, December 25th, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on July 15, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Marvin and Doris Jacklin, the oldest of three children, sister Cathy (Brown) and brother Scott. Dave was preceded in death by his father Marvin and brother Scott. Dave was united in marriage to Susan (Christine) on July 27, 1968 and is survived by their three children: son Rick and his children Michael, Aaron, Aspen, and Cameron, and four great grandchildren; son Rob, wife Jen (Schlessleman) and their four children Rachel, Sarah, Miriam, and Caleb; and daughter Christine Parker, husband Bobby and their children Noah and Lillian. Dave is also survived by his mother Doris.

Dave proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from September of 1966 to September of 1969. He received an honorable discharge and was a grateful veteran. Throughout his life Dave enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, as well as coaching from time to time; he was especially passionate about ice hockey. After working many years in the telecommunications field, he retired in 1996 from Lucent Technologies as a senior engineer to pursue other opportunities.Dave was an active member in whichever Christian church he and Sue chose to attend. He was especially interested in how digital technology and music could be used to share the Gospel message with numerous people. While shy about his own musical abilities, he loved listening to his family making music. Memorials may be sent to Lake Hills Church, 5350 North 23rd Street, Ozark, Missouri 65721. Funeral services were 2:00p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Jack Ward officiating. Visitation was held in the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. David was laid to rest at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Sue & Family,
Please accept our sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear Dave. What a great guy he has always been since I first met him when he was in Junior High at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, MN! We surely did have some fun times together, and of course never gave our pastors’ or league advisors’ a minute’s worry. We were such perfect angels. I know Dave is now singing with the heavenly chorus. “Glory to God!”
