Derald A. “Chub” St. John, age 78 of Nixa, Missouri passed away Wednesday evening, August 19, 2015 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born July 28, 1937 at Bruner, Missouri the son of Ellis “Cotton” and Jimmie (Ferrell) St. John. On ­­­­April 9, 1971 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Mae Mills. Derald was a loving husband, caring father and a good provider. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful Christian. Derald proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was employed with Dayco for 28 years and retired from Roadway after 15 dedicated years. Derald’s hobbies included restoring old cars and being a member of the “1955- 1956 – 1957” Classic Chevy Club. Derald enjoyed helping several organizations, carrying the chains for Nixa football teams and volunteering for the Nixa Sucker Day event. Derald is lovingly survived by his wife of 44 years Myrtle Mae, two sons Jason St. John and wife Jessica, Thomas St. John and wife Angela; two sisters Texie Dunn and Dee Greene; five grandchildren Kylie and Aaron St. John, Grayson Norman, Quinton and Alex St. John; and the mother of Thomas, Juanita St. John. Derald was preceded in death by his parents; a beloved son Derald “Aaron” St. John Jr.; two great-grandsons Sylas Orion Alexander Norman and Kempton Bayne Haydin Norman; one brother Bryon St. John; three sisters Bertsel Johnson, LaVonna Vee and Vineta Ree St. John; two brothers-in-law Charlie Dunn and Art Greene; sister in law Josephine St. John; a nephew Mark Dunn and nephew-in-law Dale Haden. Funeral services for “Chub” will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 24, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home. Donations are suggested to Fair Haven Children’s Home, 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757.
