Barnes Family Funerals - Dwayne Bray

Dwayne Bray, age 96 passed from this earth Monday, November 9, 2015. He was born March 13, 1919 the son of Toels and Ramah (Tindle) Bray. On December 30, 1939 he was united in marriage to Nancy Simpson Bray who preceded him in death on March 25, 2014. At the time of his death, Dwayne was living on the Sparta family farm where he spent his last 72 years working side by side with Nancy. They provided a place of encouragement and refuge for his family and anyone in need. A gospel minister from the age of 35, Dwayne dedicated his life to studying and preaching the word of God, and taught thousands of people God’s gospel plan of salvation. He was blessed with a wonderful mind, gracious speech and sincere desire to follow God’s will. He loved nothing more than talking about the Bible and was blessed with the answer for the reason concerning the hope within him. Dwayne and Nancy opened their home to a parade of brides and grooms and those seeking counsel. He performed over 200 funerals and over 82 weddings. Since 1989, Dwayne served as a Bible class teacher and elder of Sparta Church of Christ, until his health failed and he could no longer attend. He was preceded in death by Nancy, his wife of almost 75 years, Dwayne had longed in homesick anticipation of the time he would join her and be called to a place where he had never been. Dwayne is survived by his children Tom Bray and wife Jane of Springfield, Jane Sherrow and husband Larry of Sparta, and Alice Samuel and husband Steve of Ava; grandchildren Greg Bray and wife Nichole, David Bray and wife Michelle, Mark Sherrow, Tim Sherrow, Matthew Sherrow and wife Shannon; great-grandchildren Adam, Zach, Ryan and Kayla Bray, Eli and Lincoln Sherrow: sister Wilda Baxter and sister-in-law Barbara Bray. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Carol Bray and many dear loved ones. Funeral services were held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 14, 2015 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Ted Spencer officiating. Burial followed in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation was held 9:30 A.M. until service time. Dwayne Bray Family,
I must admit that I do not know Dwayne personally, however, I attend Ridgecrest Baptist Church here in Springfield and Tom is in our Sunday School Class. I would like to express my sincere condolences and also my sympathy to your family. My wife recently passed away and I was so glad at the expression of sympathy that we were given from that not only knew, but many who did not. May our heavenly Father be with you during your time of grief and loss, especially now and in days to follow. God bless each of you.
