Edna M. Hawkins, age 102 years, 10 months, 24 days of Sparta, Missouri departed this life to be with Jesus early Saturday morning, February 13, 2016. She was born March 20, 1913 at Ongo, Missouri the daughter of Elihu and Nellie (Roberts) Maggard. On June 29, 1933 she was united in marriage to Stanford (Pete) Hawkins and this marriage was blessed with four children. Edna was a longtime Christian County resident and would have celebrated her 103rd birthday next month. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a talented seamstress. Edna loved gardening and was well-known for her ability to shoot squirrels. Edna took great pride in being an outstanding mother to her family and “Granny” to her many grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and leaves behind a loving family that will forever love and cherish her precious memory. Edna is survived by her four children Ivan Hawkins and wife Nancy, Laverne Hall, Gorman Hawkins, Janice Hankins and husband Kenneth; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great- grandchildren and numerous caring relatives. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, three sisters, grandson Alan Hawkins and son-in-law Jerry Hall. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Bally Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Hall Cemetery, Mound Community. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
