Herschel Franklin Walker, age 64 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. He was born May 26, 1948 at Chadwick, the son of Fred and Velma (Hampton) Walker. On July 26, 1969 he was united in marriage to Linda “ Dianne” (Moore) Walker.
Frank loved hunting, fishing and camping with his wife and was truly an outdoorsman who enjoyed bow hunting and muzzle loading hunts. Frank loved all animals big and small, but treasured the companionship of his Irish Setter, Bo Brady. Frank was employed with the Department of Forestry in Ava as a fire fighter before being a longtime employee with Fasco Industries in Ozark for 34 years.
Frank was preceded in death by his father Fred, two grandmothers Vornia Walker and Katie Kyger, his father and mother-in-law Bill and Kate Moore.
Frank is survived by his loving wife Dianne; his mother Velma Walker of Sparta; his brother Lee Walker and wife Janis; nephew David walker all of Sparta; niece Karen Peak and husband Roy of Chadwick; great nieces and nephews Lindsey and Kallie Bilyeu, Kelsey and Kyle Walker and Dustin Peak; other caring relatives and several good friends.
Graveside funeral services were 2:00 pm Friday, May 3, 2013 in Chadwick Cemetery with Pastor Clifford Day officiating. Visitation was 12:30 to 1:30 pm prior to service time in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. On line condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
