Helen Bernice Edwards, age 78, Ozark, MO passed away Friday, November 18, 2011, in her home with her loving husband of 60 years by her side. Bernice was born May 11, 1933, in Holton, KS, the daughter of Olen Burgess and Helen Rice Daniel. Her family resided in several farming communities in Kansas and Arizona before settling near El Dorado, KS where she attended high school and was active in 4H, cheerleading and band. She met William Edwards in high school and was united in marriage to “Bill” on August 26, 1951 in El Dorado. Bernice and Bill lived in various Kansas communities including Augusta and Pratt before making their first overseas move to Argentina in 1960. Following a six year stay in South America, she and her family lived in Libya, Scotland, Iran, Oman and Kuwait before Bill retired from the overseas oil business and returned to the United States in the early eighties. They settled in Ozark, MO where after much world travelling, they have resided longer than any other place. Bernice was an expert at setting up housekeeping and knew how to make the most unfamiliar places a warm and delightful home. She made great and beloved friends in many countries who will remember, along with her family, her talents as great cook, seamstress and hostess, in addition to her loving nature and sense of humor. Bernice was preceded in death by her daughter Vanessa; her brother David Daniel and grandson Dustin Demo. She is survived by her husband William”Bill” Edwards, her daughter Melodie Edwards, Ozark; her son Eric Edwards, Austin, TX; one brother Wayne Daniel, Phoenix, AZ and her great-grandson Dakota Demo, El Dorado, KS. In this season of Thanksgiving, her family and friends share in giving thanks for the blessing that it has been to have Bernice in their lives and for the many beautiful memories of her they will cherish for the rest of their lives. The family request in lieu of flowers donations in Bernice’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice. Memorial services for Bernice will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Ozark Riverview Residential Place, 1200 W. Hall, Ozark, MO.
