Marie Ivonne (Gilmore) Carnes, age 83 of Rogersville, Missouri passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, November 6, 2022. She was born December 12, 1938, in Rogersville, Missouri to her parents Johnny and Carrie (Williams) Gilmore. On June 27, 1956, Ivonne was united in marriage to James Nelson Carnes.

For over forty years, Ivonne was employed at Southwestern Bell in various jobs, she enjoyed being an operator, coin collector, to truck driver, where she earned her Safe Driving Award. After retirement, she and her husband Jim traveled across the country together. They enjoyed bus tours through Canada and spent the winter months in Weslaco, Texas, going across the border to buy vanilla for her friends and family in Mexico. She loved having new experiences and meeting new people. She never met a stranger. Ivonne was an active member of Elm Grove Methodist Church where she found great pleasure in serving the Lord with her beloved church family. She was a member of Red Hatters, attended the Center Point Bible Study and enjoyed time at the Rogersville Senior Center. Ivonne was a loving mother, sister, aunt, “Mama” and friend. She loved camping and playing cards, especially her weekly Pegs and Jokers game. Her greatest joy came from laughing with friends and family.

Ivonne was preceded in death by sons John David and Jimmy Earl, sisters Beulah and Amy and her parents. She is survived by her devoted husband Jim; daughter Cathy Eakins and husband Troy; nine grandchildren Andrea and Josh Rupp, Jessica and Travis Hudson, Brad and Emily Carnes, Casey and Anthony Crisp, Katie and Katlin Humble, Kelsie and Dallas Melton, Josh Eakins, Carrie Eakins, and Kylie Eakins; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Genevia Jackson and husband Mike; other caring relatives, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ivonne will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 11, 2022, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Burial will follow in Linden Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.     We got to know Ivonne while being snowbirds in TX and shuffling, she had so much love for the game and loved to play cards. We will remember her for her kindness and joyful humour. Sincere sympathy to her family.
