Date of Funeral

April 5, 2025

Jeanette Ann Curtiss née Evers, age 69, of Fremont Hills, Missouri passed away April 1, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Jeanette was born on November 4, 1955, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Wilma, née Sanning, and Charles Evers.

She met her future husband of 48 years, Craig, at the freshman float construction in 1970 in Eldon, Missouri. She married him in 1978 after completing her degree in Office Administration and Business Education from Southwest Missouri State University where she was active in the Pi Omega Pi Business Honorary Fraternity and the Sigma Pi Sister of Athena organization.

In 1990 and 1992, the couple welcomed 2 children, Lauren and then Michael, into their home. Her children remember her as a selfless and supportive mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams.

Jeanette worked for Empire Bank as a loan secretary and in human resources for 15 years. She then became the City Clerk for the City of Fremont Hills and held that position for 25 years. She was an administrative clerk for the Christian County Ambulance District as well. After retirement, Jeanette spent time with her grandchildren volunteering at their schools, gardening, and showering them with love. She and Craig also traveled with friends, exploring Italy, Israel, and Alaska, with a few trips to the Caribbean sprinkled in.

Jeanette was accomplished at sewing, crochet, and knitting and often spent time at craft fairs with her mother Wilma and daughter Lauren. She loved gardening and shared her expertise with others, spearheading a monarch butterfly garden project for the City of Fremont Hills. She was an empathetic individual who loved helping babies and their mothers, often sending knitted caps to premature wards and donating time and money to Lifehouse Ministry Maternity Crisis.

She was an active and dedicated member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark, Missouri since 1978 and volunteered and chaired every year with the annual garage sale. She was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, part of the Ladies’ Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus and served as the Director of Religious Education. She also served as a member of the Parish Council for many years. Family and friends knew they could count on Jeanette for big hugs, homecooked meals, and warm blankets with a tag ‘Handmade with love by Jeanette Curtiss’ sewn into the corner.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Craig; children, Lauren and Michael; three grandchildren Dae Han, Da Eun, and Luna; her siblings Greg and Mike. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Charles, and her nephew, Nick.

We have been friends with Jennette and Craig for over 50 years, she was such a class act, fun traveling buddy, wonderful mom, most giving and generous mom, friend and wife. We enjoyed so many gatherings at their home with all of our friends over all of these years…priceless and memorable. This tragic loss is still not registered yet, but it will be so sad when it does. This is a terrible loss and she will be missed. RIP, Jeanette.

My sincere condolence to Craig and family. Jeanette will always share a warm spot in my heart. She use to joyously wish me a happy birthday on November 4th, a birthday date that we shared. My homebound condition prevented my attendance at her funeral services, but she is in my prayers, along with her family.
