Doris Marie (James) McAnulla, 80, of Ozark, Missouri passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Doris was born May 26, 1944 in Houston, Missouri the daughter of Ruben and Norma (Hinkle) James. On February 4, 1994, she was united in marriage to John “Mike” McAnulla, together they shared 31 years of love and wonderful memories.
Doris was a devoted seamstress and quilter, sharing her passion by teaching others throughout the years. Baptized at the young age of 12, Doris was a woman of faith, who read her Bible daily, finding strength and comfort in her relationship with Jesus Christ. She held a special place in her heart for babies, birds and puppies, however she had a notable dislike for squirrels. She embraced the role of Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with warmth and love. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ruben and Norma James, her brothers David James, Ted James, Gerald James and Leon James.
Doris is lovingly survived by her husband Mike McAnulla of Ozark; four children Herbert Ice II, Janell (Ice) Helton and husband Bill, Van Ice and wife Karen and Angela (Ice) Smith and husband Nathan; three children by marriage Kristi (McAnulla) Smith and husband Scott, Kevin McAnulla and wife Kari and Abigail (McAnulla) Bush; grandchildren Samantha Helton, Amanda Jenson, Madelyn Helton, Herbert Ice, III, Emerson Smith, Madison Smith, Zachary Smith, Emily Ice, Sydney Ice, Parker Smith, Karter Smith, Mahalie McAnulla and Merek McAnulla; great-grandchildren McKayla, Eliana, Josephine, Talia, Aviela and Katriel; her sister Joyce Scott; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family from Selmore Baptist Church.
Memorial service for Doris will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Selmore Baptist Church, Ozark, with Pastor Mac McCully officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. till service time in the church. Cremation under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri.
