Joan Carrick, age 80 of Ozark, Missouri passed away early Sunday morning, June 11, 2023, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. She was born October 14, 1942, the daughter of Vance and Josephine (Smith) Hamilton, with nine children born to this couple, Joan was the youngest girl. On May 25, 1962, Joan was united in marriage to James Carrick, who preceded her in death July 11, 2010.
Prior to moving to Ozark in 1971, Joan and James were business owners in Ava, Missouri. They were well-known for their flea markets, antiques and selling shoes at Carrick Shoe Store. After moving to Ozark, they grew their business to include booths in the Branson area. Joan continued to work and manage the business until shortly before her death. She was a member of Hopedale Baptist Church and remained active in her church with many church trips and activities. Joan was a faithful Christian who loved Jesus, her family and her friends. She will be sadly missed but her loving memory will live on forever in the hearts of her wonderful family.
Joan is survived by her loving son Jeff Carrick; two sisters Shirley Salsman and Linda Lemmon; several special nieces and nephews, and other caring relatives. In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, June16, 2023 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri with Pastor Mark Arnold officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior and begin at noon until service time. Joan will be laid to rest beside her husband James, in Ava City Cemetery, Ava, Missouri.
