John J. Pillius Jr. age 87 of Bruner, Missouri passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in his home. He was born March 25, 1936, in Walden, New York the son Estella (Brock) and John J. Pillius Sr. On June 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Hazel Downing, and in 1996 they moved to the local Ozarks.
John was an ordained minister of the non-denominational faith who enjoyed serving local churches and helping others. He was a devoted Christian who always began his day with faithful daily devotions and prayers. John loved to read and study religious material especially the Bible. In addition to his strong belief in God, John was a very compassionate, kind, soft hearted and loving man. He will be sadly missed but his loving memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his love, laughter and kindness. John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
John is survived by his wife Hazel; his children Louise Olsen and husband John, Richard Pillius and wife Carol, Karen Brotherton and husband Robert; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister Barbara Arlotta. John was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Graveside funeral services will be 10:00AM Friday, December 8, 2023, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri with full military honors for John. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
