Karla Joette Rhodes November 23, 1948 - March 16, 2017

Barnes Family Funerals - Karla Joette Rhodes

Karla Joette Rhodes, age 68 of Ozark, Missouri passed away Thursday evening, March 16, 2017 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. She was born November 23, 1948 in Springfield, the daughter of Joe and Jean Daley. She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Rhodes on October 1, 1971 and God blessed this union with three children, Kayla and husband Donnie, Kara and husband Tim and their three children Emrie, Adelyn, and Aceson, and Kevin and wife NaMi and their son Dawson. Karla was raised by her parents in Hollister, Missouri and moved to Ozark with her husband in 1971. Karla was many, many things. First a homemaker, she took great pride in and let me tell you, no one could do the job better than she did. She provided child care in her home, to many kids who are grown now, but tell us what a big part of their life she became. Foremost and most importantly, Karla was a loving wife to Bob, her rock, as she was his. The BEST mom anyone could ask for. Now that we kids are grown, we can say without a doubt, we are who we are because of her, and the qualities she instilled in us. Karla was the most amazing and most loving Grandma/Me-maw to her four grandchildren. They were her life, always spoiling them with her abounding love and maybe an occasional sweet or sip of DrPepper. Karla wanted her grandkids with her, and EVERY second she could get with them. They were her world. She was a loving sister to her brother Kerry, and sisters Karen and Kathy; loving aunt to all her nieces, nephews and a Great, Great friend to so very many. Karla was always quick to tell you how she felt, whether you liked it or not, but that was just mom and we only loved her more for it. One of mom’s favorite places was her church, Grace Community Worship Center, with Pastor Paul Winchester, his wife Cheryl, and the rest of her church family whom she loved very much. Her life, filled with her love, her feistiness, and her selflessness touched us all in so many ways. Her love for God gives us all peace and comfort, knowing that one day we will all be together again in Heaven. Funeral services for Karla will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Gobblers Knob Cemetery, Hollister, MO. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home. I dearly loved Karla, I drove by her house the other day to say “hi” but she wasn’t home. She was so good to me growing up, she taught me how to make a bed and keep a perfectly clean house! I have only good memories of my time spent with her. She was always so quick witted and funny. I am so sorry for your loss, may God’s Holy Spirit be your comfort.

So sorry to hear this. Have alot of good memories growing up with aunt Karla and the rest of the family in Granny and Grandads yard. She was a very kind lady and really appreciated her calling once or twice a year to let us know how the rest of the family was doing. Will miss this. Thoughts and prayers are with you all, so sorry. Love you all.

Karla’s picture is the way I remember her. We started first grade together and graduated from high school together. She had a wonderful smile and was accepting of others.

Our paths crossed a couple of times at elementary music programs, and I regret I didn’t take the time to get to know her again.

I know she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. My condolences to you.
