Kathy Jo Schweppe, 67, Sparta, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, in her home, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. Kathy was born July 15, 1955, the daughter of Joe Wayne and Winifred June (Anglin) Highfill in Buffalo, Missouri.

Kathy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Roger Dean Schweppe, Jr. in Lawton, Oklahoma on September 21, 2005. Together they enjoyed 17 years of marriage and a lifetime of love, living life and laughing along the way. Fishing at the creek (she loved to out fish everyone), a quick trip to the casino, playing pool, throwing darts, listening to music at home, or maybe just an evening kicking back watching classic western movies. Everyone enjoyed her great sense of humor, which she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Wayne and Winifred June (Anglin) Highfill; her stepson, Scott Schweppe; and her sister, Mary Lou O’Neal.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Roger Dean Schweppe, Jr. of Sparta, Missouri; daughter, Christina Highfill; and son, Johnnie Joe Highfill; her Mother-in-Law, Betty Schweppe-White of Sparta, Missouri; two brothers Kenney Highfill and his wife, Paula, of Springfield , Missouri, and Derrell Highfill and his wife, Keita, of Sparta, Missouri; two sisters, Wanda Johnson and her husband, Steve of Fordland, Missouri, and Loretta Doty and her husband, Danny of Texarkana, Texas;  brother-in-law, Gregg Schweppe and his wife, Beverly of Blue Springs, Missouri, along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The visitation for Kathy, will be at Barnes Family Funeral home, Ozark, Missouri from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Pastor Bally Johnson will be officiating graveside services starting at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Sparta IOOF Cemetery, Sparta, Missouri.  Arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home.
