    Dear Mary and Family.

My husband Bud and I want to tell you we are so sorry for your loss,
I don’t know if you remember the summer we visited and camped with my folks Corene & Lawrence Applegate. The whole Applegate crew came down, there was lots of fun for all..
Gene was a good cousin even if he teased me more than I thought he should when I was in my teens. lol

I have lots of good memories of your husband, Kenneth and Bonnie.
I am glad you have a large family to give each other comfort, The Lord be with you Wanda & Bud

I just now saw the obituary got Gene. I am very sorry to learn of Gene’s passing. My parents (Earl & Delphia Uhlmann) operated a general store across the highway from Gene’s service station in Chadwick, MO. I graduated from Chadwick High School in 1967 & attended college at The School of the Ozarks, and after graduation moved to the St. Louis, MO, area to work for the phone company. From there, I moved to Kansas, then to Connecticut, and then to the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ, area. So, I did not get back to Chadwick very often. However, while I was in Chadwick, I became acquainted with Gene & he was always very nice & kind to me. Back in those days, the gas companies often had “gas wars” & reduced gasoline prices and there would be friendly competition between my parents’ gas station & Gene’s gas station. On behalf of my family & myself, I want to offer condolences to the family.

    Best Regards,

    Jerry Brannan
