Matthew Brian Turnbull, age 44, of Nixa, Missouri, went to his heavenly home surrounded by family and friends on December 28, 2019 at 12:00 pm. He was born September 5, 1975, in Pittsburg, Kansas the son of Patricia (Williamson) Turnbull and the late Steven Turnbull. He was a baptized believer of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Matt was a 1994 graduate of Aurora High School in Aurora, MO. On October 12, 1996 he married his high school sweet heart Trish Morgan in Aurora, MO. Their marriage was blessed by two wonderful children, Lucas and Ellie.
After high school, Matt pursued a career in the heating and air-conditioning industry. He later started his own H-Vac company with two partners. He was last employed as assistant director of maintenance for the Marshfield School District.
Matt had a huge heart and great love for his family, his work family and friends. He loved to make those around him happy and was always filled with laughter. His smile lit up the room and could make any one feel at home. There was never a dull moment when you were in his presence and he always had the perfect come-back to anything you said.
In his free time, he loved kayaking, fishing, golfing, hiking, gardening and just being outdoors with family. He was an active church member, taught Sunday school for several years and enjoyed volunteering at church whenever he was needed. He loved game nights, backyard barbecues, relaxing by the beach and of course watching the Chiefs, Cardinals and Jay Hawks. But, his favorite pastime of all was cheering for his daughter, Ellie, at her swim meets and following his son, Lucas, as he competed in golf tournaments.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Betty (Dunbar) Turnbull; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Helen (Snoddy) Williamson; and by his father, Steven Kent Turnbull.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia (Williamson) Turnbull; the love of his life, Trish (Morgan) Turnbull; his son Lucas and his fiancé Meghan Stewart; his daughter Ellie; his sister, Jennifer Cline and her husband Rob, of Aurora; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Funeral services for Matt will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at James River Church, Clark Chapel with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Richwood Cemetery, Ozark, MO. Visitation will be noon until service time in the church. The family request in lieu of flowers donations can be made to James River Church, Joplin Campus building project, 6100 N. 19th Street, Ozark, MO 65721. December 30, 2019 at 5:48 pmSo so sorry for your loss. We were blessed at Marshfield when Matt came to work there. I always teased him that I would have to break something in the High school kitchen so he would have to come by. Had so much fun with him around. My heart hurts for all of you. He will be dearly missed!!
