Mildred Irene (Jenkins) Phillips, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2012. She was born on August 23, 1921 in Rogersville, MO to Lloyd and Rebecca (Nix) Jenkins. On August 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to her husband of 61 years, the Reverend Jesse L. Phillips. Mildred attended school at Petelo near Rogersville. She was a lifelong resident of the Sparta and Mansfield areas. Mildred served alongside her husband as a homermaker on the family farm and in the churches he pastored which included Seymour Assembly of God, Sparta Assembly of God and Basher Pentecostal Church, Ava, Mo. Mildred loved to make beautiful quilts and led the church women’s groups in making quilts to sell and provide assistance for missionaries. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her children; Lillian Darlene Robison, Ozark; Rebecca Eileen Freeman and husband Joe, Springfield; Jesse Phillips, Jr., Bolivar; and Jacquelyn Irene Copeland and husband Steve, Mansfield; one sister Pauline Morrison and husband Richard, West Linn, Oregon; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild; other caring relatives and a very large church family. Visitation was held 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark followed by graveside funeral services in Sparta Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. On line condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com
