Norman T. Hughes December 31, 1917 - October 31, 2011

Norman Theodore Hughes, age 93 years and 10 months of Nixa, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 31, 1917 the son of Henry and Ethel (Andrews) Hughes. On May 11, 1940 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alyce M. Applegate. Norman was a longtime resident of Christian County where he was a self-employed welder and farmer. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Ozark and a terrific family man. During World War II, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Ninety-First Division. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a son, Thomas. He is lovingly survived by his wife of seventy-one years, Alyce; three daughters Eyvon Sanders and husband Marion of Ozark, Regina Anderson of Nixa and Patricia Hughes of Ozark; two brothers Don Hughes and wife Emmo Jean, Russell Hughes and wife Susie, one sister Lorene Workman; five grandchildren, nine great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one great-great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews other caring relatives and many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, November 3, 2011 in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Troy Rhoden and Pastor Jim Jefferies officiating. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery with full military honors .The Hughes family suggests donations in Norman’s honor be made to Old Boston Cemetery.
