Randy Joe Tate, age 77 of Ava, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family. Joe was born February 27, 1946, to his parents, Darryl and Ireta (Dobbs) Tate. As a young man, Joe hauled milk and worked in the concrete business in Kansas City, before starting his own business in 1978, as Tate’s Septic. He also farmed on the family farm in the Bertha Holler before retiring in 2014. On January 3, 1969, Joe was united in marriage to Debby Coats and this marriage was blessed with one son, Bradley Joe Tate.

Joe enjoyed his horses, cattle, dogs, hunting, fishing, trapping and was especially fond of trading. He was a longtime Douglas County resident and well-known for his ability to make friends and tell good stories. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving family, many friends and neighbors.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Darryl and Ireta (Dobbs) Tate, two sisters Beverly Lakey and Rhonda McNamer, and his special stock dog Peppy.

Joe is survived and will be truly missed by his wife Debby, one son Bradley and wife Mae Tate, grandchildren Austin, Justin, and Brayden Tate, Devin Shannon and wife Taylor, Sierra Shannon and fiancé Dallas; great-grandchildren Kendel Tate, Tiana, Tyson, and Dylan Shannon; a brother-in-law Robert McNamer, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside Celebration of Life services will be Friday, August 11, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in  Pleasant Home Cemetery, Drury, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Barnes Family Home, Ozark, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com

    Sadden to hear of Joe’s passing. He was a great friend and a man of humor. We farmed together and had some really fun times. Joe was a good Husband, Dad and Grandpa and will be missed by his family and his friends.

    My condolences to the family
    of Joe Tate. I first met him and Debbie at cowboy church. His humor made me laugh and he was very sincere to listen to other people’s thoughts. He will be missed but rest assured he is in the arms of our Lord.
